3rd Cyprus Forum

The largest, independent policy-making conference in Cyprus was once again held at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre, on September 29th and 30th, 2022.

Under the general title “Inclusivity”, more than 170 speakers graced the conference with their participation: National and international personalities from the fields of politics and business, as well as academia.

One of the primary innovations presented in this year’s conference was none other than the delegation/assignment of all discussions to various, recognised organisations and research centres.

Influenced by the events of the last few days, regarding the recent death of the 22-year-old Iranian girl, Amini, Remedica’s CEO Dr. Michalis Neoptolemou, began his speech by giving tribute to Amini, whose crime was not placing her headscarf correctly on her head.

Among other things, Dr Neoptolemou stated that the term ‘Glass Ceiling’, a term vastly used by other organisations, does not exist in Remedica’s vocabulary. He refers to it as an ‘invisible barrier’, one not adopted by Remedica, as it’s a term designed to make it difficult for ambitious women who want to excel in the field of business. In our group, women hold 51% of the leading positions.

We want our company’s staff to feel that they are a part of Remedica, and not just used and exploited.

In addition to the topic of diversity and inclusion, at this year’s Forum, a plethora of important topics were discussed, relating to the smart cities, electric mobility, euthanasia, artificial insemination, participatory education, circular economy etc.

Using pre-recorded video messages, the Forum was also welcomed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Annita Demetriou, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General (SRSG), Collin Steward, as well as the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola.

Cyprus Forum is organised by the non-profit, non-governmental organisation Oxygono, in collaboration with the Delphi Economic Forum.
