The Rotary Club of Nicosia Lefkothea honours Dr Michael Neoptolemou with the Paul Harris Fellow Recognition

On the 6th of July 2021, during its annual handover event, the Rotary Club of Nicosia Lefkothea expressed its appreciation and gratitude to one of its major sponsors Dr Michael Neoptolemou, CEO of the Remedica Group by recognising him as a Paul Harris Fellow (PHF).

Dr Michael Neoptolemou responded generously, to the call of the RC Nicosia Lefkothea, by Past President Popi Kanari, to provide specialised medicines for the treatment of cancer for children at the St Georges Hospital in Beirut. The St. George’s hospital was effectively demolished by the devastating explosion in Beirut in August 2020 and the children being treated for cancer were left stranded and the medicines used for their treatment were destroyed. The value of the medicines donated by Remedica was in excess of 8.500 euros.

On behalf of RC Nicosia Lefkothea, its President Demetris Pantazis awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship certificate and requested Deputy District Governor Peter Ashdjian to place the PHF pin on Dr Michael Neoptolemou.

President Demetris Pantazis, in his address to Dr Neoptolemou, explained that “Rotarians associate the naming of a Paul Harris Fellow as a tribute to a person who has demonstrated a shared purpose with the humanitarian objectives of The Rotary Foundation. The recognition is named after Rotary’s founder, the late Paul Harris, a Chicago lawyer, who started Rotary with three business associates in 1905.

A world of goodwill and better understanding comes closer to reality due to the generosity of Dr Neoptolemou.

Being presented with a Paul Harris Fellow recognition Mr Neoptolemou, joins a remarkable company of people throughout the world, all recognised for their commitment to ‘Service Above Self’ to benefit local and international communities.

In his response, Dr Neoptolemou thanked the Rotary Club of Nicosia Lefkothea for their honorary award and commended the humanitarian work done by the RC Nicosia Lefkothea and also by the Karaiskakio Foundation as well as the contribution of its Chairperson Popi Kanari. Dr Neoptolemou also announced the donation of 10.000 euros to the Community Fund of the club to continue its humanitarian work for the underprivileged and the community at large. President Demetris Pantazis thanked Dr Neoptolemou for his continued and generous support and assured him that the funds will be put to good use.
